Magic Day of Giving

 

Magic Day of Giving is the largest volunteer coordinated community service event in the history of Minot! Launched in 2014, the first Magic Day of Giving took place on Friday, September 19 with 840 volunteers that collectively gave back 2,000 hours of service to the community!

 

In total 10,100 volunteers have donated 22,365 hours which is equivalent to a donation of $532,209. 

On Friday, September 13, 2019, teams of volunteers are invited to join together, completing service projects in honor of the Magic City!

 

Kickoff featuring Jessie Veeder

A kickoff event will be held that morning at 8:30 a.m. at the Minot Municipal Auditorium (Room 201). This year we'll start the morning with a presentation by Jessie Veeder. Jessie is a singer, writer and fifth generation ranch women. She has a unique perspective on love for place, community and how to tap into your passion to live a fulfilling life. After the presentation at 9 a.m. Volunteers will grab a donut and a t-shirt (while supplies last, thanks to our generous sponsors) as they head out to complete their projects.

 

Volunteering

Teams are encouraged to sign up and complete their own self-designed community service project or sign up and request to be assigned a project submitted by a community organization. Volunteers could rake, paint, pick up garbage, wash windows, help nursing home residents, improve local parks and much more! Self-designed service projects can be tailored to your team's special talents, such as singing at an assisted living facility, hosting a fundraiser or offering free professional haircuts to those in need. The deadline for volunteer teams to sign up is September 6, 2019. Teams can also sign up and volunteer by donating blood during the second annual Magic Day of Giving Blood Drive! 

Blood Drive

This will be the second year that we've partnered with Vitalant to host a blood drive! The blood drive will run from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and be located at the Minot Municipal Auditorium. Projects
The community can submit projects online for consideration. Projects should take only two hours and must not require power tools or be located within a private residence. The deadline to submit a project, requesting volunteers to complete it is August 21, 2019.
